Can I get painkillers, ADHD medication, or sleeping pills?

Short Answer

No, Abby Health practitioners cannot prescribe Schedule 8 (S8) medications, including strong painkillers, ADHD medications, or sleeping pills. These medications require strict in-person assessments due to their potential for misuse and dependence.

Certain high-risk medications are heavily regulated in Australia and cannot be prescribed via telehealth.

This includes:

Medications That Cannot Be Prescribed Online

🚫 Strong Painkillers – Opioids such as Endone, Tramadol, Oxycodone, Codeine-based medications.

🚫 ADHD Medications – Stimulants such as Ritalin, Dexamphetamine, Vyvanse, Concerta.

🚫 Benzodiazepines & Sleeping Pills – Medications such as Valium (Diazepam), Stilnox (Zolpidem), Xanax (Alprazolam), Temazepam.

🚫 Steroids & Testosterone – Including anabolic steroids, TRT (testosterone replacement therapy).

Why Can’t These Be Prescribed Online?

Legal Restrictions: Australian telehealth laws prohibit prescribing these medications without an in-person consultation.

High Risk of Dependence: These medications can be addictive, so face-to-face assessments are required for monitoring.

Strict Prescribing Rules: GPs and specialists must follow government regulations and controlled drug laws.

What Are My Options?

For ADHD Medications – Book an in-person consultation with a GP or psychiatrist.

For Pain Management – Consult a local GP, pain specialist, or physiotherapist for alternative pain relief options.

For Sleep Disorders – Consider CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), sleep hygiene improvements, or non-prescription sleep aids before seeking medication.

💡 Need help managing your condition? Abby practitioners can still provide alternative treatment options, referrals, and general health support.
